Since the 1930's Jumbo guitars have been making themselves heard. Turner Jumbo's are no exception and great for strummers who appreciate sheer projection that is without doubt 'loud' but also refined enough to maintain the full depth of a dreadnought combined with the extra bass created by the larger size of the guitars 430mm lower bout.
Featured here is the Turner 65 CE. We paired
together tonewoods that just sound fantastic, using a solid and
articulate 'Spruce' top together with stunning
maple back and sides. 'Maple' offers a
characteristic of clarity & warmth but also includes a fat
treble, a dense hardwood sometimes perceived as tonally 'bright'
there is plenty of room for the maple 60 Series in any Live Band
setting. Visually stunning the flamed-maple back and sides each
exhibit unique depth and texture.
With offset pearl fret markings on a bound rosewood fingerboard,
the traditional 3 ring soundhole rosette keeps the focus on the
quality of these instruments. A faithful electronic system
utilising the Fishman Isys+ system (which includes built in guitar
tuner) provides a true acoustic tone either in a studio or playing
live, simply unplugged these guitars sound great. A smooth venetian
cutaway allows easy access to the upper frets.
I bought a Turner 82 CE in April. I'm very pleased with it and its a joy to play. I do a lot of finger style playing at local folk clubs covering the styles of Doc Watson, John Prine, Merle Travis, Chet Atkins etc and its just the job! I’ve had plenty of interest and compliments regarding the guitar. A friend has made enquiries about buying one!- Jonathan Beech
